Money Management

Another strategy to employ before you sit down is money management. We all try to do this and I will be the first one to admit that staying on budget or walking away during hopeless secession when everything is going wrong is a pretty tuff thing to do.

I will also be the first to admit that sticking to your guns and walking away is essential to any player who wants to stay profitable. Before you sit down at the poker table, have some sort of idea of how much of your bankroll you are willing to put in play for the day. Set a cutoff point for how much you can afford to loose, and likewise a goal of how much you want to win.

Like any game of chance there are always going to be ups and downs, highs and lows, and poker is no different. You may start off great; double up five times in a row in the first hour, than never win a hand for the rest of the day. I know that when everything comes together at the poker table is one of the greatest feelings ever. You make all your flush draw’s you flop a set every time you are dealt a pocket pair. You hit your gut shot strait draws more than you open ended ones, and your top pair always hold up. When this happens you feel that poker is the easiest game in the world and you wonder how you could have ever lost. Well enjoy the feeling because it will not last, it never does.
